Layoff... lay down..

I've been busy with my routine job administrating systems & humans. Yes, you read it right. Initially I setup, install, fine-tune & administrate all Unix systems in my workplace. As time goes, huge improvement take place & all these systems stabilize. In means of most of administration task has been automated, from data collection, analyst & report production. I would say that would be my best project I ever worked for the past 10 years. It's kind of self-satisfaction..

However, people do evolve, so do career. Climbing corporate ladder are not that difficult if you are willing to climb. I'm more than willing to climb. I would like to succeed, on my own, without sucking others ball. Well, so far, even I faced obstacles, the path are clear as crystal.

Until last quarter of 08. Then all paths are now hazy. One of our manufacturing plant closed down & merge with the one I'm locating now. It's a good decision in term of cost effectiveness. However, there are pros & cons for this. The best parts were this plant will be more busy than ever. It's bigger & more people working in & out. But the worst parts were, people here has been swallowed by bigger fish from outside. We just started few years & about to built our career, but then those from old plant with higher position came & take over us..

It's just the beginning. Few months later, most of employees finds that they are doing same jobs. Duplicate jobs are not good for lean manufacturing practice. Thus, 2 separate VSS announced to give away for those who think they should move forward by leaving the company. Then the timing didn't beside us, with world economy into recession currently, more & more VSS coming on monthly basis. Even not officially announced, but those in junior/middle management category start leaving every single week. Of course the packages getting better & better but since there is no day without worries ever since 2009 came.

Next month I'll celebrating 10 years of achivement in career. I guess I'll be celebrating of 10 years of being employee of others. Might opted for next 10 years of becoming self-employed. Doing what I think people being forgetting to since era of technology. We so advance in technology until we forget that we need to grow on our own as an strategic asset for survival..

Agriculture is a business....
